Bunting Bonanza - community project

We are delighted to be working on our first community project, a bunting bonanza. Our goal is to be able to provide bunting to establishments around Orkney to celebrate Pride month during June. We would love to see the Isles come together to make bunting inspired by pride flags that we can lend to local businesses to display.

All mediums and skill levels are happily accepted, so if you knit, sew, glue, staple or anything else we would love to have your creations for the project. You can work on it individually, with friends or if you are part of a group that would like to make it together that would be fantastic!

We have a drop off point for any finished pieces at Mind On charity shop on Albert street in Kirkwall open Monday - Saturday 10am - 4pm. Should getting into Kirkwall not be an option simply get in touch with us and we will arrange something - contact details below.

If you have somewhere to display bunting, be it a business, an organisation or even at home we would love to hear from you. we are happy to get a donation on a boat to the outer Isles or send it in the post if needs be. Pride funday

Pride in Orkney is truly delighted to be putting on a fun day for our first year of Celebrating Pride month. It will be on the 30th of June at the Stenness Hall from 11am - 4pm

We are currently working hard to make the day as entertaining as possible. We will be having games in the hall and outside as well as a bouncy castle and gladiator inflatable . There will also be workshops and story telling and much more to come as we work to build a great day.

We are actively seeking volunteers to help out on the day with running games and stalls, if you can spare an hour or two to help us out let us know via our email or volunteer form!

Charity Status update

Some of you will know that we have been working towards applying for our charity status with OSCR and we are nearly there. Having spent months working on a constitution that we hope will be with Pride in Orkney for many years to come, all we have to do now is dot the I's and cross the T's. Then we can get it sent away and wait to hear back .

Then when we are a registered charity we look forward to being able to do even more and give our community a even better voice by being able to have voting members who can help us decide on which projects and events we should run for our LGBT+ community and our supporters!
